LG Air Conditioner Error Code CH35

DIY checks firstReviewed November 2026Checked against manufacturer documentation
What this code means
CH35: Low pressure sensor error: refrigerant pressure too low

The unit measured refrigerant pressure below the expected range. Clearing airflow problems at the outdoor unit is the only user-side step; if the charge itself is low, finding and repairing the leak is licensed refrigerant work.

Also shown as: 35

Applies to: Residential wall-split and multi-split systems

Parts that may be involved
Low pressure sensor, Outdoor control board
Parts are model-specific; see the note below before ordering.

Common causes

  1. Refrigerant charge low, possibly from a leak
  2. Outdoor fan blocked, screened or not running
  3. Pressure sensor connector loose
  4. Pressure sensor or outdoor board faulty

What to check, in order

Safety first. Switch the unit off at the breaker before checking anything. Never open the refrigerant circuit or the electrical boxes of the indoor or outdoor unit — refrigerant work is licensed work. The checks on this page stay on the outside: power, filters, remote control and airflow.
  1. Check the outdoor unit and clear away anything blocking the fan or coil: leaves, covers, boxes, or a fence panel fitted too close.
  2. Clean the indoor air filters, let them dry completely, and refit them.
  3. Restart once after a five-minute power-off. If the code returns, stop there: pressure and refrigerant faults need a licensed technician.

Clear the code and test

  1. Fix what the checks above found first — a filter cleaned, an obstruction removed, the breaker restored. Clearing the code without fixing the cause only brings it back.
  2. Restore power at the breaker and switch the unit on with the remote.
  3. Run the unit in cooling or heating for ten to fifteen minutes and watch whether the code returns; some codes only appear after the compressor has run for a while.
  4. If the unit runs with no code, the fault is cleared. If the code returns, write down the code and whether the indoor or outdoor unit shows it before calling a technician — it speeds up the diagnosis.

When to call a professional

Most cases are solved by the checks above. Book a technician if any of these apply:

  • The code comes back after you have run the checks and a test cycle.
  • You smell burning, see sparks or scorch marks, or the breaker trips.
  • Water is leaking and you cannot stop it.
  • The fix needs panels opened beyond what your manual describes, or a part tested with a meter, and you are not set up for that.

When you call, give the brand, the code CH35, your model number (on a label on the side of the indoor unit) and the checks you already ran. It shortens the visit.
